Getting Applewood Community Garden started was truly a community effort.  Church members, youth, members of the local business community, Parks and Recreation, and

many more worked together to make  this garden a reality.

Now the tidy garden draws locals to stop in and stroll through the 24 plots, which have been bordered with mostly donated cedar timbers.

The gardeners transformed a rather plain lot next to the Applewood Community Church into a beautiful space, including 16 flowering shrubs for the neighbors to enjoy, and an alle of Six Autumn Purple Ash trees and six Chanticleer Pear trees.  One gardener, Christina Forsyth, even learned the metalworking skills to design and build the intricate sign on the trellis entry.

There has been an abundance of enthusiastic gardeners, many of whom were willing to share the 24 plots so that everyone has had an oppurtunity to participate.

Local newspapers have given the garden visibility, reporting on how great their work has been for the community.
